Dr. Sarah Legorburu began practicing with Physicians to Children after completing her training in 1984. She commenced her training at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed her pediatric training at Miami Children's Hospital, where she stayed as chief resident. During her training, she received many honors, including the outstanding resident of the year award, the A.W. Castellanos award, and The L.F. Mencia Surgical Prize. She is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
She has dedicated much of her time teaching residents at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital (formerly Miami Children’s Hospital). Dr. Legorburu was the recipient of The Award in Appreciation of Outstanding Contribution as teaching attending in 1990. Moreover, she received The Second Annual Excellence in Teaching Faculty Award in 2002.
Throughout her career, she has been a member of multiple committees at Nicklaus Children's Hospital. She served on the Board of Directors as well as the Board Quality Committee. She currently resides on the Medical Executive Committee. Dr. Legorburu has been elected to Florida Top Doctors, Best Doctors in America, and America’s Top Pediatricians.
Dr. Legorburu has passion for serving the underserved. She has been traveling to remote areas in the Dominican Republic, providing care to underprivileged children since 1996. She is married to Dr. Jose Selem and they have three wonderful children.
